Description:
The investments in STEM education in terms of time, money and manpower mean that it is critical for school educators to think about how to ensure that the outcomes of the investment will privilege the whole of their school community. A Seminar, under CoolThink@JC funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, on Approaching Curriculum Design for STEM Education and Computational Thinking by Dr. Kenneth LIM Yang-Teck will be organized by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on 20 October 2017 (Friday). After the Seminar, Parallel Workshops on Investigating our Local Micro-Climates with Micro:bit Boards will be held by Dr. Lim’s research team.
The Seminar will outline a framework of the curriculum design founded by Dr. Lim for STEM education and computational participation taking into account the needs, interests and abilities of learners. Dr. Lim will also share the experience working with teachers in several countries and helping them to approach curriculum design from the point of view of surfacing learner intuitions for more authentic learning.
