Objective:
The programme aims at facilitating students:
1. to understand the development of Smart City is to address urban challenges, to enhance the effectiveness of city management, and to improve people’s quality of living as well as Hong Kong’s sustainability, efficiency and safety;
2. to further develop the knowledge and skills acquired from “STEM Education”, “IT in Education”, as well as the study of “Climate Change”, “Biodiversity” and “Healthy Lifestyle” through this programme;
3. to integrate and apply the afore-mentioned knowledge and skills to suggest innovative ways to realise the ideas of Smart City in the development of their home, school, community and city environment, and
4. to develop positive values and attitudes, including humanistic spirit and values related to science, technology, and innovation.

Objective:
The LTE 2018 is presented by Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity), organised by Bailey Communications HK Limited and supported by the Education Bureau. It will be held from 12 to 14 December 2018 at Hall 3CDE of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Now in its ninth year, the LTE 2018 sets its theme as “Tomorrow’s Learning Today” and the Expo provides a professional platform for school leaders and teachers to discover and discuss the latest developments in learning and teaching and educational resources and technology. There will be over 300 booths presented by local and overseas exhibitors, school visits and over 200 keynote presentations, seminars, workshops and lesson observations held by educators from all around the world, covering a great variety of themes, including application of artificial intelligence in education, transformation of 21st Century education, education policy and strategy in Finland and Sweden, STEM and Maker education, curriculum policy and leadership, inclusive education, early childhood education, and social emotional learning, etc.

Objective:
Nowadays science and technology have developed drastically. Chinese scientists play an important role in promoting scientific research and technological development. They have made remarkable achievements and earned international reputation in different areas of research. Since 2003, the Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series has invited more than 65 famous Chinese scientists to give lectures on sharing the latest scientific and technological information with the public, as well as encouraging young people to get into the research field for giving a new impetus to the future development of science and technology.

The Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series 2018 is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Beijing – Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre, the China Association (HK) for Science and Society Ltd. and the Education Bureau. This year, the Lecture Series consisting of three sessions, will be held on 2 November 2018 (Friday). One local and two mainland distinguished Chinese scientists will introduce their researches to the public. The local speaker is Prof. Rocky S. Tuan, the Vice-Chancellor and President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The title of his lecture is “The Power of Regenerative Medicine to Restore Health and Quality of Life”. Prof. Tuan will introduce his latest research on regenerative medicine such as artificial cartilage. Details of the two sessions by the mainland scientists will be announced on the website of Hong Kong Science Museum (http://hk.science.museum) in
mid-October.
