Main instructor: Ms. Clara Hui, Hong Kong Digital Game-based Learning Association
Ms. Hui has been working in the digital game-based learning field for over 10 years. She has been teaching computer science, coding and robotic courses at a number of secondary schools (with the audience being the students as well as the teachers) and also at the Hong Kong Academy of Gifted Education (HKAGE) consistently for over five years. She has conducted various local and overseas seminar presentations and workshops, and has built up a close network with the local and overseas teachers and scholars.
Brief outline of the workshops: Session 1 (16 Dec 10AM-12PM):
● introduction to CS (computer science)
● how does CS improve our everyday life & why should we learn CS
● hands-on coding with Scratch and Minecraft hour of code

Session 2 (16 Dec 1PM-3PM):
● introduction to game-based learning
● introduction to a game making tool: Construct 2
● hands-on making a Construct 2 game
● Brief break

Session 3 (16 Dec 3PM-6PM):
● robotics: hands-on coding with robots Dash & Dot
● hands-on with mathematics game: Algebra Game
● how to bring coding, game-based learning and robotics into your classroom
● what can your students learn from them and how can they help you to teach
● discussion and certificate award

Hong Kong Secondary Schools 3D Printing Design Competition: “Glamorous Victoria Harbour”

Hong Kong Secondary Schools 3D Printing Design Competition: “Glamorous Victoria Harbour”

 
Description:
With funding support from the Innovation and Technology Commission of the HKSAR Government, and support of the Education Bureau, the Competition will feature the theme of “Glamorous Victoria Harbour”. By using computer-aided design (CAD) software and advanced 3D printing technologies, local secondary students are invited to redesign and fabricate 20 selected Hong Kong landmarks for a Victoria Harbour model which will be made up of more than 1,000 3D-printed objects. This amazing model is expected to create the first Guinness World Record on the largest number of 3D-printed exhibits on a display.

The LTE 2016 is presented by Hong Kong Education City (HKEdCity), organised by Diversified Communications Hong Kong and supported by the Education Bureau. Now in its seventh year, the LTE 2016 sets its theme as “Tomorrow’s Learning Today” and the event provides chances for school leaders and teachers to discover and discuss the latest developments in learning, teaching, educational resources and technology. There will be over 230 booths presented by local and overseas exhibitors, school visits and over 160 keynote speeches, seminars, forums and workshops, with renowned scholars and experts sharing views with participants on learning technology, STEM education, inclusive education, learning assessment, school design and other innovative and effective learning and teaching strategies. The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will organise the STEM Education Conference-cum-Carnival 2016 on 16 and 17 December 2016 at the Tai Po Campus. This event is one of a series of major events organised by the EdUHK to promote STEM education in the school sector. The event aims to provide a platform for school leaders, curriculum developers, teachers, teacher educators and other stakeholders to share their ideas and experiences of organising STEM learning activities. It also offers opportunities for primary and secondary students to share their previous learning outcomes on STEM and experience new STEM ideas in exciting ways. 為提高學生科技興趣及創意,西貢區、離島區、中西區及葵青區(「四區」)之家長教師會聯會主辦,邀請西貢區、離島區、中西區及葵青區校長會、香港專業教育工程學科及資訊科技學科合辦「中學生科技設計比賽2017」,並得到教育局及家庭與學校合作事宜委員會協辦,邀請「四區」之中學組隊參加。
 

比賽鼓勵學生以物聯網(Internet of Things, 簡稱IoT)為導向,透過創意和實作回應主題「智慧.校園 (Smart School)」,將香港打造成為更具競爭力的智慧城市(Smart City) 。學生可以透過自行開發的項目,展現他們對IoT的應用和創意,於比賽作品展覽當日向評判團展示範該項目實際運作和原創性。
