  3. To let teachers experience how students can use big data and technology in real scenarios to carry out STEAM-related learning activities.

The remarkable contributions of Chinese scientists have been instrumental in driving significant advancements in scientific research and technological development that we are witnessing today.  Since 2003, the Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series has been inviting Chinese scientists to deliver talks and share their knowledge. This year, renowned Chinese scientists will again share their research findings with the public and students at the Hong Kong Science Museum, to inspire young people to engage in scientific research and become the driving force behind future developments of science and technology.

5G Campus Application Competition Competition Details

5G services have been developing rapidly since the launch in April 2020. At present, 5G coverage in Hong Kong has exceeded 90% of the population. To further promote wider application of 5G, the Office of the Communications Authority (“OFCA”) has organised a 5G Campus Application Competition (the “Competition”) with the theme of “5G Campus for Smart Life” for all secondary schools in Hong Kong, and commissioned the Hong Kong Productivity Council (“HKPC”) as the co-organiser of the Competition. All local secondary school students are invited to participate.

Key objectives of the Competition:

  • To facilitate Hong Kong secondary school students to have a better understanding of the enormous potentials of 5G technology and its extensive innovative applications, and to enrich campus life, enhance learning environment, optimise the use of teaching resources as well as improve the community environment or facilities in the neighbourhood through the application of 5G technology.
  • To encourage students’ active participation in the development of advanced technologies and innovative industries.
  • To enhance students’ learning in science and technology, especially the integrated application of STEM (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related knowledge and skills, so as to foster students’ creativity, collaboration skills, problem-solving techniques, as well as development of their innovative thinking.
